ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • A degree in Urban and Regional Planning (or related field) or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ professional experience in urban planning or strategic land use planning.
  • Experience developing and/or contributing to the preparation of housing strategies, structure plans and neighbourhood character reviews.
  • Sound familiarity with the Victorian Planning System.
  • Demonstrated project management, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Well-developed GIS, visualisation and mapping expertise including desktop publishing of maps and plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare high-quality written reports and planning documents.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an Urban and Regional Planner (Consultant) to join our CoFutures team in Fitzroy, Victoria. The role involves contributing to urban and regional planning projects, with a focus on integrating strategic land use planning with creative community engagement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Developing and implementing land use plans and policies across local, state, urban and regional levels.
  • Advising on economic, environmental, social and cultural impacts of land use and development.
  • Consulting with stakeholders and communities to inform planning processes and strategies.
  • Engaging with government authorities, agencies and other specialists on a range of planning, land use and development matters.
  • Conducting research and preparing plans and reports on planning and development issues.
  • Preparing strategic planning documents, policy briefs and frameworks.
  • Assessing proposals and providing recommendations in line with planning frameworks and statutory requirements.
