Job Description
AECOM is seeking an Urban Planner to join its Abu Dhabi office. This role supports the development of creative, contextually responsive, and economically viable urban planning solutions. Working within a collaborative studio environment, the Urban Planner will contribute technical input to city-scale strategic, spatial, and master planning projects, as well as urban design initiatives.
The position involves applying strong analytical skills in spatial and strategic planning, with occasional project coordination responsibilities. Experience or qualifications in urban economics or housing are highly desirable.
The Urban Planner will work closely with senior team members, including Associate Principals, to develop, refine, and sometimes present project deliverables in line with defined scopes.
The ideal candidate is adaptable, detail-oriented, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team, often within tight project deadlines.

  • Driver’s Licens

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Masters Degree in Urban Planning and/or a related discipline (for example: economics, geography, urban design, architecture)
  • The ideal candidate should have 3-5 years’ experience in Urban Planning; applicants would ideally have a mixture of private sector and some government
Responsibilities
  • Provide support in terms of technical expertise and administration for a range of projects, including strategic planning, land use planning and master planning.
  • Work within multi-disciplinary teams of planners, urban designers, landscape architects and engineers to complete land development, master planning and strategic planning projects.
  • Prepare presentations for ultimate delivery to clients, stakeholders and government (approving agencies) to advance understanding of projects, approvals for: development, master plans, development guidelines and policies.
  • Liaise with government agencies and other authorities as may be required regarding development objectives, policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with the company’s Quality Assurance policies and procedures
  • Assist the Associate Principal – Urban Planning in identification and pursuit of business development opportunities.
  • Prepare proposals and qualification documents in the interest of obtaining new assignments.
  • Assist the Associate Principal – Urban Planning in recruiting staff members.
  • Provide such further assistance to senior management, the Strategic Planning and Economic Development Team and the wider Design + Planning studio as may be required from time to time.
  • Provide effective representation for the Organisation, developing and managing relationships with the client and other local authorities.
