About the role  The Planning team is offering an exciting internal secondment opportunity for someone to undertake the role of Urban Planning Support Officer from 4 August 2026 to 16 November 2026.  The Urban Planning Support Officer provides support to the City Planning and Building department within the City Liveability directorate.  The role would suit someone that can self-motivate, has good time management skills and the ability to prioritise work. This role will report to the Coordinator Planning in a collaborative team environment.  This is a full-time temporary role based in the Civic Centre (opportunity for part time four days a week also encouraged to apply). We support flexible working arrangements while ensuring operational needs of the role are met. While knowledge of the Planning Scheme and associated legislation would be ideal, the position is also available for consideration to staff with skills and interest areas related to statutory planning. This is a Band 5 classified role. Remuneration will be $80,377.95 to $93,517.76 (depending on experience) (pro-rata for part time) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee.  What you will deliver during this period: * Co-ordinate the advertising and referral of planning and subdivision applications. * Prepare decisions on applications. * Prepare and send out correspondence and register incoming correspondence including objections. * Discuss applications and planning matters with various stakeholders. * Assist in the preparation of Council reports. * An opportunity to assess and recommend decisions on minor planning applications.   * Other tasks outlined in the Position Description.
