About the Role
We are looking for a reliable, practical and hands-on Hotel Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of our hotel in Blackpool, FY1.
This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in maintaining a hotel, supporting staff, looking after guests and ensuring everything runs smoothly. We need someone who is willing to lead by example and get involved in the daily work rather than simply delegate tasks to others.
The successful candidate will help coordinate staff, oversee housekeeping, cover reception when required, handle guest enquiries, monitor room standards and report maintenance issues. You should be comfortable taking responsibility, solving everyday problems and stepping in wherever help is needed.
Practical maintenance, repair or fitting skills would be an added advantage.
Key ResponsibilitiesHotel Operations and Staff Coordination
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the hotel.
- Coordinate housekeeping and reception duties.
- Allocate tasks and ensure staff complete their responsibilities.
- Support and assist staff during busy periods.
- Monitor staff attendance, work quality and hotel standards.
- Ensure hotel rooms and communal areas are clean, presentable and ready for guests.
- Follow company procedures and instructions from the business owners.
- Report operational issues and provide regular updates to management.
Reception and Guest Services
- Handle guest check-ins and check-outs when required.
- Welcome guests and provide a professional, friendly service.
- Answer telephone calls, emails and guest enquiries.
- Assist with reservations, booking changes and guest requests.
- Handle payments and deposits accurately.
- Resolve routine guest complaints and escalate more serious issues when necessary.
- Use hotel booking systems and computers for daily operations.
Housekeeping and Cleaning
- Check rooms to ensure they meet the hotel's cleanliness standards.
- Help clean bedrooms, bathrooms and communal areas when needed.
- Assist with changing linen, preparing rooms and restocking supplies.
- Step in to support housekeeping staff when the hotel is busy or short-staffed.
- Ensure rooms are ready for incoming guests.
Maintenance and General Upkeep
- Identify and report maintenance issues promptly.
- Arrange or coordinate repairs with the appropriate contractors, following management procedures.
- Carry out basic, safe maintenance tasks where competent and authorised.
- Monitor the condition of rooms, furniture, fixtures and hotel facilities.
- Identify issues with plumbing, lighting, fittings, furniture and general room condition.
- Assist with minor repairs, furniture assembly or fitting work where appropriate.

- Familiarity with hotel booking systems, such as Cloudbeds.
- Experience handling bookings, payments and guest check-ins.
- Basic DIY, maintenance, repair, furniture assembly or fitting skills.
- Experience managing housekeeping standards and room inspections.
