JOB DESCRIPTION:

Hype Telecom, LLC, a leading provider of IT and telecommunications solutions, is seeking Independent Contractors as Smart Hands Technicians and Engineers to provide on-demand on-site support in Chicago, IL. Our Smart Hands services include essential tasks such as hardware installation, network troubleshooting, cabling, equipment maintenance, and remote hands-on support in data centers, helping clients maintain operations without interruptions. This is an independent engagement, with no employment relationship, aligned with federal and Illinois laws for contractors.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Certifications like CompTIA A+ or Network+, CCNA, CCNP or equivalents,
• On-site technical support experience (1-3 years), knowledge of cabling and IT/telecom hardware.
• Must operate as an independent entity with own tools and vehicle.
• Availability for on-demand work, including nights and weekends, with control over job acceptance.
• Communication and autonomous work skills; knowledge of diagnostic tools.
• Residence in Myrtle Beach, SC, or nearby; ability to work for multiple clients.
• Must have own registered business and liability insurance.
• Agreement to written contract per Illinois FWPA and federal laws.

• Perform equipment installations (rack & stack), reboots, and modular component replacements, controlling your own methods.
• Execute basic hardware and network troubleshooting, including cable and connection checks.
• Provide visual and physical support for remote teams, such as inspections and circuit tests.
• Manage equipment inventory and assist in on-site audits, issuing invoices for services.
• Respond to 24/7 emergency calls to minimize downtime, with schedule flexibility.
• Configure and test WAN devices, including network migrations and firmware updates.
• Coordinate with remote teams for advanced installations and preventive maintenance.
