• 5+ years developing production-grade automation and tooling for Linux/Unix environments
• Expert proficiency in Python and Perl, with a focus on secure, maintainable code
• Proven track record in large, collaboratively authored, modular codebases
• Solid SQL and database programming skills
• Hands-on experience with git, Jenkins, Agile methodologies, and CI pipelines
• Deep understanding of Linux internals, system calls, and virtualization concepts
• Experience building and supporting highly available, state-based distributed APIs

WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

You will join our client’s Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) Engineering group, maintaining and evolving a globally distributed VMware platform that underpins critical enterprise services. Your tooling expertise will simplify configuration, provisioning, and support—ensuring a stable, scalable virtualization estate across dozens of data centers.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Develop and enhance the provisioning system and support tooling for a large-scale, VMware-based IaaS platform
• Build and maintain APIs and command-line interfaces that empower system administrators, developers, and support teams to configure VMs reliably
• Extend and integrate open-source and internally developed tools—configuration components, user-space libraries, and automation scripts
• Troubleshoot and optimize the end-to-end virtualization stack: hardware, hypervisor, OS, network, and storage layers
• Collaborate closely with infrastructure, DevOps, and application teams to deliver a cohesive, user-friendly management experience
