Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dedicated Senior House Officer (SHO) to join our Urology Department. As an SHO, you will work within a dynamic team providing high-quality care to patients with a wide range of urological conditions. This position will offer invaluable experience and training in urology, with exposure to both inpatient and outpatient services.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent).
Full registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC) or eligibility for registration.
Previous clinical experience, ideally in a hospital or surgical setting, with a keen interest in urology.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
Ability to handle a high-pressure environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

DESIRABLE SKILLS:

Previous exposure to urology or surgical rotations is beneficial.
Knowledge of relevant medical software and electronic health records (EHR).
A proactive approach to learning and professional development.

Responsibilities

Assist in the management of urological patients under the supervision of the Consultant Urologists and registrars.
Perform clinical assessments, gather patient histories, and conduct physical examinations.
Support in the preparation and follow-up of patients for urological surgeries and interventions.
Participate in urology clinics and provide medical care in outpatient settings.
Provide emergency care for patients with urological conditions, including trauma, infection, and obstruction.
Support in the diagnosis and management of both common and complex urological conditions, such as renal, bladder, and prostate disorders.
Ensure accurate documentation of patient histories, clinical findings, and treatment plans in line with hospital protocols.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including nursing staff, radiologists, and physiotherapists, to provide holistic patient care.
Participate in ward rounds and contribute to clinical decision-making and patient care planning.
Assist in teaching medical students and junior staff as required.
