If you share our values and our enthusiasm for getting it right for patients, colleagues, and our community, you will find a home at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust Job Description The Urology Department at Portsmouth University Hospitals are looking to appoint to its endourology and stone surgery fellowship program, based at the Queen Alexandra Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity, to provide comprehensive training in advanced endourology and stone surgery techniques, including establishing PCNL access, in a high volume centre. The post holder will work through a structured training syllabus, to master complex flexible ureteroscopy, ECIRS, standard and mini PCNL, including access, as well as having the opportunity to be trained to perform HoLEP procedures. The hospital performs approximately 100 PCNL procedures a year as well as over 300 flexible ureteroscopy procedures. The department has one of the highest daycase rates in the country and routinely offers both flexible ureteroscopy and mini PCNL on a daycase basis. The department also has an onsite lithotripter and offers experience in ESWL. The fellowship program can be tailored to meet the requirements of the successful applicants experience and future sub-specialty ambitions. Qualifications Qualifications Full GMC registration with a licence to practice FRCS(Urol) or equivalent qualification Qualifications that demonstrate proficiency in written and spoken English language Clinical Experience Evidence of experience of endourological surgery at a middle grade / registrar level Clinical Skills Demonstrate evidence of being able to expertise in urological surgery manage/prioritise time manage information effectively prioritise clinical need organise ward rounds ability to maximise safety and minimise risk monitor developing situations and anticipate issues evidence of involvement in quality improvement projects, formal research project or other activity understanding of clinical risk management Knowledge able to demonstrate appropriate level of clinical knowledge required for the post knowledge and use of evidence-based practice IT skills experience in and outside speciality Other evidence of completed audit evidence of teaching experience leadership skills – ability to take responsibility, make decisions and exert appropriate authority good oral and written communication skills publications prizes and honours logical thinking, problem solving and decision making effective, confident presentation ability Additional Information The health and wellbeing of our staff is at the forefront of everything we do.
