Our IHE (In-House Engineering) Team is dedicated to advancing clinical research by ensuring the accuracy and reliability of essential trial equipment. We support patient safety and data integrity through expert calibration, service, and repair of laboratory and refrigeration products & services used in clinical trials. In this equipment & ancillaries’ role by MESM, you will report to our GSM (Global Service Manager) and will work closely with fellow associates to support our valued customers & their global clinical studies. We are seeking a motivated Apprentice Biomedical Equipment Technician [BMET] Engineer to join our team through the nationally recognized AAMI Registered BMET Apprenticeship Program. This two-year program blends paid, hands-on technical training with formal instruction to prepare candidates for a career supporting and maintaining healthcare technology. How will you make an impact & Requirement Program: AAMI Registered BMET Apprenticeship [USDOL-Recognized] Employment Type: Full-Time, Paid Apprenticeship Duration: Apprenticeship 2 Years (On-the-Job + Classroom Instruction) This role is based at our site in Lakeland, FL working within the IHE (In-House Engineering) workshop. The post holder will perform a range of minimal risk, routine, technical & Scientific Procedures. This element of work will be working hands-on to support a wide range of clinical specialties, whilst assisting with our business product lifecycle management. POSITION PROFILE You will be paired up with an experienced engineer to maintain, calibrate and conduct routine services to ensure that the diverse range of equipment we supply is functioning correctly and is performing to specification. Program Structure • Hybrid training model including 4,000–6,000 hours of paid on-the-job learning. • Classroom instruction aligned to AAMI curriculum requirements. • Training under certified BMET journey workers/mentors. • Progressive wage schedule determined by employer policy. • Completion results in a nationally recognized AAMI/US Department of Labor certificate. Career Path After Completion Graduates typically advance into roles such as: • Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET I) • Clinical Engineering Technician • Medical Device Repair Specialist The apprenticeship provides a structured, reputable pathway into the growing field of healthcare technology management. Job Duties and Responsibilities: ▪ Maintenance, Calibration and Routine Service to ensure that the diverse range of equipment we supply is functioning correctly and is performing to specification ▪ On occasion repair, re-calibration or re-configuration activity is required if a products performance is performing outside of its defined specification ▪ This is all achieved with the help of account managers, databases, engineers, contracts managers and more which you will be required to collaborate with ▪ As IHE Engineering Apprentice, you will be paired up with experienced engineers who will mentor you in the maintenance and repair of various Bio-Medical & Laboratory products ▪ Prepare equipment and work areas following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). ▪ Support basic device checks, functional tests, and inspection routines under supervision. ▪ Maintain accurate asset and test records. ▪ Assist with stock control, asset tracking, inventory receipts, and inventory counts. ▪ Follow infection prevention and control procedures. ▪ Responsible for cleaning and disinfecting routine, cleans, sanitizes and maintains records associated with each serialized equipment record to abide by all regulations. ▪ Responsible for ensuring all service documentation is completed, timely and accurately by maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the company ERP system to include the following: inventory, service history, documented results and relevant transactions. ▪ Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. ▪ Build and maintain internal and external customer relationships. ▪ Adhere to Mission, Vision, and Values of our organization. ▪ Provide a positive representation of Resonant Clinical Solutions by integrating core values into job performance. ▪ Assist with special projects as assigned Requirements: • High school diploma or equivalent. • Basic aptitude in electronics, mechanical systems, or technical problem-solving. • Strong willingness to learn and commit to the two-year apprenticeship model. • Attention to detail, reliability, and adherence to safety protocols. • Good literacy, numeracy, and IT skills. • Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures. • Effective communication and teamwork skills Preferred: • Any prior exposure to healthcare, engineering, laboratories, or technical services. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Essential ▪ Methodical worker and interested in how things work ▪ Good communicator orally and written. ▪ Physically fit to undertake tasks involving frequently lifting & moving equipment. ▪ Create & maintain effective professional relationships. ▪ Responsive & flexible attitude & approach. ▪ Customer focused, hardworking, keen, and able to learn, interested in how electrical items work, positive outlook. Desirable: ▪ Experience of fixing things (e.g., a remote control, rewiring a plug etc.) ▪ Engineering experience General: ▪ Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. ▪ Computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office. ▪ Ability to work independently and as part of a team. ▪ Willingness to continually update technical skills.
