REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years’ experience in state and local indirect tax (sales & use and excise tax)
  • Fully qualified, career oriented, journey-level position.
  • In-depth knowledge of US indirect tax compliance laws, regulations, and best practices, including Sales Tax, Use Tax, Excise Tax, and other relevant federal, state, and local tax laws.
  • Experience with Vertex, and other tax preparation software that demonstrates the ability to efficiently and accurately prepare tax returns, identify potential errors, and ensure compliance with all applicable tax regulations.
  • A seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization.
  • Applies a company-oriented and strategic thinking (high level picture) as well as advanced cost understanding.
  • Travel - Up to 10%
  • Fluency in English Language – written & verbal

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Relevant professional certifications, such as CPA, CIA, CMA, CISA, or Enrolled Agent (EA), demonstrating a commitment to professional development and expertise in taxation.
  • Project management skills - i.e., the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong planning & organizational skills.

Responsibilities

SUMMARY OF ROLE:

The US Indirect Tax Senior Staff plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with indirect tax regulations, leveraging their expertise to manage complex tax processes, and build out standard processes for indirect tax. This position will report to the US-indirect tax manager. This role involves handling various indirect tax filings, conducting research, assisting with tax audits, and collaborating effectively with colleagues and clients.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages and/or executes tax and subsidy strategy. Typically performs one or more of the following in capacity of either an individual contributor (as directed and/or independently), or as a manager.
  • Drive ERP set up for indirect tax
  • Manage property tax processes
  • Prepares and maintains tax records, returns, reports and other related materials
  • Responsible for compliance documentation, filing, and government audits with respect to federal, state, and local tax filings
  • Recommends alternative tax treatments to alleviate or reduce tax burden
  • Performs a variety of financial activities including developing and evaluates financial plans and policies
  • Performs both financial planning analysis and tax functions within the organization
  • Designs, develops and implements tax strategy for the organization
  • Devises legal means to minimize tax liability using thorough knowledge of tax laws and regulations
  • Works with government affairs advocacy and design of favorable tax and subsidy legislative policy
  • Responsible for compliance documentation, filing, and government audits with respect to subsidiesWork and collaborate on other projects and/or assignments as needed
