As a Senior Data Engineer in our Data & Analytics team, you will design and build the data platform that powers Spenn’s analytics, reporting, and customer experiences. You’ll create reliable pipelines and well-modeled data that turn loyalty-ecosystem data into insight and product value. You will take ownership of our data platform end to end and set the standard for data engineering across the organization. Data modeling & transformation – Develop and maintain robust data models and transformation pipelines using dbt, following best practices in testing, documentation, and version control. Data pipelines – Build and orchestrate ingestion pipelines that bring data from the app, platform, partners, and third-party sources into the warehouse. Data quality & governance – Ensure data quality, integrity, and lineage, and support compliance with data-privacy requirements such as GDPR. Enabling analytics & AI – Partner with analysts, data scientists, and product to deliver clean, well-structured datasets that power dashboards, experimentation, the recommendation engine, and customer experiences. Technical leadership – Set standards for data engineering, mentor others, and contribute to the architecture of our data platform. AI-Driven Efficiency – Utilize and advocate for AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) to accelerate data development, documentation, and quality assurance. Collaboration – Work closely with analytics, backend, and product teams to deliver data capabilities end to end. Required Experience and Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Several years of professional data engineering experience. Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake. Strong proficiency with dbt and SQL. Experience building and orchestrating ELT/ETL pipelines. Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS) and BI tools is a plus. Experience in fintech, loyalty, or other data-privacy-sensitive domains is an advantage. Proven ability to leverage AI tools to improve data engineering efficiency. Personal Attributes Strong sense of ownership, with a focus on data quality, reliability, and scalability. Collaborative and clear communicator who bridges technical and analytical teams. Curious and tech-savvy, with a passion for well-engineered data systems.
