Hunter Auto Group is looking for a Used Car Buyer to support our Subaru, Hyundai, and Volvo dealerships by sourcing, evaluating, and purchasing quality pre-owned vehicles. This role plays a critical part in building a strong, profitable used vehicle inventory while maintaining Hunter Auto Group’s high standards for quality and value. Automotive experience is preferred, but we’re willing to train the right candidate who brings strong negotiation skills, attention to detail, and a results- driven mindset! As our Used Car Buyer, you’ll play a key role in shaping our pre-owned inventory strategy and driving used vehicle sales success across our dealerships. Key Responsibilities Source pre-owned vehicles through auctions, dealer trades, direct purchases, and online marketplaces Evaluate vehicles using market data, vehicle history reports, and physical inspections to determine value and purchase price Monitor market trends, auction performance, and pricing tools to ensure competitive and profitable buying decisions Negotiate purchase terms with sellers, wholesalers, and auction representatives Work closely with dealership leadership, service, and reconditioning teams to align inventory with sales goals Set target acquisition costs to support retail pricing and gross profit objectives Track inventory performance, aging, and turn rates to optimize buying strategy Ensure accurate documentation, titles, and compliance with dealership and state requirements Maintain strong relationships with auction partners, wholesalers, and industry contacts What We’re Looking For Previous experience in automotive purchasing, used car management, or inventory acquisition preferred, but not required Strong understanding of used vehicle market trends, pricing, and valuation tools Analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven buying decisions Excellent negotiation and communication skills Strong organizational and time-management abilities Ability to work independently while collaborating with dealership leadership and sales teams Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record A proactive, results-driven attitude with a strong desire to succeed What We Offer Health insurance with $0 cost available Dental and Vision insurance Wellness Program Paid time off and holidays 401(k) with company match Employee discounts on vehicles, service, parts, and accessories Professional growth and development opportunities Positive and team-oriented work environment Referral bonus Employee appreciation events Closed Sundays!
