SUMMARY

Sells used vehicles while achieving and maintaining appropriate levels of gross profit, volume, and customer satisfaction. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Sells to, and satisfies the transportation needs of 10 used vehicle purchasers per month.
2. Approaches, greets, and offers assistance or direction to any customer who enters the dealership showroom or sales lot.
3. Assists customers in selecting a vehicle by asking questions and listening carefully to their responses. Suggests alternative vehicles if necessary.
4. Understands the terminology of the automobile business and keeps abreast of changes in product technology, incoming inventory, features, accessories, etc.
5. Provides thorough product information and demonstration to all prospects.
6. Offers test drives to all prospects. Follows dealership procedure to obtain proper identification from customer before test drive begins.
7. Exhibits a high level of commitment to customer satisfaction.
8. Utilizes dealership sales control and follow-up system.
9. Knows and understands the local laws which govern retail auto sales.
10. Establishes personal income goals that are consistent with dealership standards of productivity, and devises a strategy to meet those goals.
11. Knows and understands equity and values, and is able to explain depreciation to the customer.
12. Ensures that the sales manager has an opportunity to meet each customer.
13. Turns 100 percent of closed deals to finance and insurance manager and presents properly completed paperwork (i.e., insurance information, trade-in title, etc.).
14. Prepares sold vehicles for customer delivery (i.e., cleans vehicles, fills fuel tank, and ensures all features are operational) prior to customer arrival.
15. Delivers vehicles to customers, ensuring that the customer understands the vehicle’s operating features, warranty, and paperwork.
16. Introduces customers to service department personnel to emphasize to them the quality and efficiency of service repairs and maintenance available in the dealership’s service department.
17. Schedules first service appointment.
18. Follows up on all post delivery items, and special requests to be sure that all customer expectations are met.
19. Maintains an owner follow-up system that encourages repeat and referral business and contributes to customer satisfaction.
20. Maintains a prospect development and follow-up system.
21. Works with the service department and body shop to ensure that vehicles are properly reconditioned on schedule.
22. Attends sales meetings.
23. Helps with the used-vehicle inspection process.
24. Helps to keep the used-vehicle department neat and clean.
25. Maintains a professional business appearance.
26. Writes complete sales orders and processes paperwork in accordance with established dealership policies.
27. Reviews and analyzes actions at the end of each day, week, month, and year to determine how to better utilize time and plans more effectively.
28. Maintains a professional image.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Matriculation and up to one year related experience or training.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages.
