Job Title: User Experience Designer
Department: Product & Technology
Location: BILT - Global Brand Support Center, Grapevine, Texas 76051

ABOUT THE JOB

BILT is seeking a talented User Experience (UX) Designer to join our team in Grapevine, Texas, to design and implement intuitive, secure, and accessible user interface enhancements for our existing mobile and spatial computing platforms (iOS, Android, Windows and visionOS). This role will support customers from many industries, including federal contracts, requiring current U.S. citizenship and strict adherence to Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) standards to ensure compliance and security for government clients.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Design, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field — including practical experience in UX design, particularly within regulated or federal environments
  • Citizenship: Current U.S. citizenship required due to federal contract stipulations and FedRAMP compliance. Candidates must provide verifiable proof of citizenship (e.g., passport, birth certificate).
  • Experience:
o 3+ years of experience in UX design for mobile/web applications. A background in designing for complex or security-sensitive environments preferred.
o Proven experience designing and implementing user interfaces for iOS, Android, and Windows
o Experience designing for augmented reality (AR) and spatial computing platform interfaces (e.g. visionOS) is a plus.
o Experience working with analytics tools and A/B testing frameworks

o Experience with FedRAMP-compliant or government-related software projects is preferred

  • Technical Skills:

    • Familiarity with front-end technologies preferred (e.g., HTML, CSS, React, etc).
  • Strong knowledge of UI/UX design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD) and prototyping tools.
  • Familiarity with iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin/Java) development environments for collaboration with mobile developers.
  • Experience implementing WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards
  • Additional experience is a plus: Understanding of NIST 800-53 security standards and secure coding practices. Optional: FedRAMP security controls (e.g., MFA, FIPS 140-2 cryptography, audit logging).
  • Soft Skills:

    • Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration

    • Ability to analyze user feedback and federal requirements to create secure, accessible, user-friendly designs
    • Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance (e.g., Public Trust or higher) is a plus but not required at hiring

    FEDRAMP REQUIREMENTS

This role supports federal contracts requiring the following FedRAMP compliance:

    • Implement NIST 800-53 security controls, including access control (AC), audit and accountability (AU), and system and communications protection (SC), tailored for cloud environments.
    • Develop UX components supporting MFA compliance with NIST SP 800-63B, using FIPS 140-validated encryption for authentication and data protection.
    • Maintain a well-defined authorization boundary diagram to depict UX-related system components and data flows, ensuring protection of federal information.
    • Support continuous monitoring and periodic 3PAO assessments to maintain FedRAMP authorization, addressing Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms) promptly.
    • Adhere to agency-specific requirements, such as U.S. citizenship for personnel handling sensitive data, as specified in federal contracts.
    Responsibilities

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Design User Interfaces: Design new and optimize existing user journeys and interface solutions for mobile, web and immersive platforms, ensuring compliance with federal security and accessibility standards. Translate complex interactions into clean, accessible, and responsive UI designs, creating flows, wireframes and high-fidelity prototypes using Figma. Maintain our design system across platforms.
    • FedRAMP Compliance: Include accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA) and inclusive design best practices in all UX/UI initiatives. Ensure that all design and development efforts meet FedRAMP requirements (outlined below).
    • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with UX designers, iOS/Android/Windows/visionOS developers, QA teams, and product managers to deliver cohesive, FedRAMP-compliant features and functionality.
    • User Testing and Feedback: Participate in user testing and synthesize insights into actionable design improvements.
    • Ensure Code Quality and Security: Collaborate with developers to ensure that user experience designs align with secure development practices.
    • Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of UX development processes and security controls for FedRAMP audits and Third-Party Assessment Organization (3PAO) reviews.
