Overview About the Role The primary purpose of the User Support Specialist II (EMS Technology Support Division) is to support the Medical Coordination Center end-user community in the effective access and use of University Hospital information resources and compliance with infrastructure and operating standards. He/she will be responsible for assisting the Manager IST with all of the technology needs, equipment and related processes for the Medical Coordination Center. He/she will also perform other assigned duties to support efficient EMS operations and represent University Hospital’s Medical Coordination Center and EMS in a positive and professional manner. Responsibilities What You’ll Do Supports the Medical Coordination Center’s end‑user community in accessing and using University Hospital information systems effectively. Ensures adherence to established infrastructure and operational standards. Assists the IST Manager with all technology needs, equipment, and related processes for the Medical Coordination Center. Completes additional assigned tasks to maintain efficient EMS operations. Represents the Medical Coordination Center and EMS professionally and positively on behalf of University Hospital. Qualifications What You’ll Bring Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (equivalent experience, education, and/or training may be substituted). Three (3) years of experience in the use or support of desktop computing. Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) or Microsoft certificate courses preferred. Experience with modern EMS technologies such as: Global Positioning System Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) software and hardware Wireless communications Mobile Data Console/Terminal (MDC/T) operations (preferred) Knowledge of emergency telephony and Enhanced 911 interfaces based on NJ Board of Public Utilities and Office of Telecommunications requirements (preferred). Experience with modern operating systems up to and including Microsoft Windows 10 (required). Valid driver’s license with NJ driving privileges. Experience with Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) software and troubleshooting (preferred). Current or former EMS provider certification and experience (EMT, Emergency Medical Dispatcher, or Paramedic) preferred.
