Agency Adult Correction Division Operations Job Classification Title User Support Technician I (S) Position Number 60059351 Grade DT04 About Us The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! Description of Work Salary Range: $54,657 - $81,986 Reporting to the Administrative Officer II, this position requires basic knowledge and understanding of a wide variety of technologies to effectively support users’ technical needs. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: - Interacting with a broad range of users, requiring strong communication skills and using technical resources to provide support. - Setting up, installing, and/or repairing computer hardware, software, and/or peripheral equipment, including copiers and fax machines. - Imaging/reimaging CPU’s, loading software and databases, and assigning and/or updating User profiles. - Conducting computer diagnostics to determine the nature of problems and troubleshooting tablets used for electronic rounds. - Troubleshooting network logins, (Active directory) setups, password resets, and Email/FIORI logins (North Carolina Identity Management System). - Recommending the purchase and/or repair of equipment and working with maintenance staff on wiring needs related to facility computers. - Training staff on the use of computer and related equipment. - Performing and maintaining monthly and quarterly inventory of all computer assets, including related hardware, software, and assigned laptops. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Working knowledge of technology principles and terminology associated with the work unit and ability to integrate in identifying problems or solutions Working knowledge of software and hardware installation processes and procedures Knowledge of system security protocols This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. Note to Current State Employees: The salary grade for this position is DT04. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity.
