JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced and driven Utility Foreman to lead field crews in the installation of Fire Mesh protection on Transmission and Distribution power poles located in wildfire-prone regions across Alberta and BC. This leadership role is ideal for someone with a strong background in utility work, field operations, and team coordination.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily site activities, ensuring crews operate safely and efficiently, and navigating remote project areas using GIS tools, digital maps, and work planning systems. This is a hands-on, outdoor-focused role requiring excellent organizational skills, mechanical aptitude, and a deep understanding of utility infrastructure and right-of-way access.

SKILLS

  • · Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driver’s abstract
  • · Standard First Aid with CPR certifications
  • · Ability to haul a trailer
  • UTV/ATV Experience
  • Leadership / Crew Management Experience
    · CSA-approved and OHM-rated steel-toed boots
    · Physically fit and capable of repetitive heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs)
    · Comfortable working in various outdoor conditions (rain, heat, cold, snow)
    · Mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience using a range of tools
    · Strong written and verbal communication skills
    · Experience operating ATVs and performing physical labor such as climbing ladders

Responsibilities
  • Set up, maintain, and service tools and equipment as needed
  • Lead and supervise field crews in the installation of Fire Mesh systems on power poles.
  • Interpret utility maps, GIS data, and project scopes to plan and execute daily work.
  • Coordinate with project managers, safety personnel, and other stakeholders to maintain productivity and compliance.
  • Ensure field equipment is operated safely and maintained properly.
  • Conduct safety tailboards, monitor job site hazards, and enforce company and regulatory safety protocols.
  • Provide accurate reporting on crew progress, material usage, and site conditions.
  • Install Fire Mesh protection in various field conditions, often in wildfire areas
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues, communicating with engineers, field personnel, and supervisors
  • Maintain positive client and stakeholder relationships; respond to concerns promptly and professionally
  • Advise operators on equipment maintenance best practices
  • Keep accurate records of services and work performed
  • Follow all company policies and procedures (safety, vehicle, housekeeping, correspondence)
  • Assist with hotshot deliveries and equipment installations as needed
