Description The Utility Kitchen position assists the Culinary Operations Manager in the preparation and execution of lunch provided for students and employees. Responsibilities include food prep, serving, cleaning, and dishwashing. This position reports directly to the Culinary Operations Manager or Assistant Manager and is a part of the Culinary Operations team. This position is Monday – Friday, 7a.m. to 3 p.m. (with summers off) – no nights or weekends. Duties and Responsibilities Wash kitchen equipment and kitchen wares as instructed Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, and silverware in accordance with standards. Prepare a variety of foods as instructed and adhere to proper food handling procedures. Follow safety procedures and maintain a safe and sanitary work environment that conforms to all standards and regulations. Set up food stations at the beginning of the day and break down food stations at the end of each day. Transport prepared food from one place to another following proper food handling procedures. Serve students and faculty lunch from the serving line. Replenish food stations as necessary throughout lunch periods. Store food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage according to standards. Portion and wrap food, or place it directly on plates for service to customers. Maintain dishwashing station, sinks, and related areas. Perform other responsibilities as assigned. Requirements High School diploma or equivalent experience preferred. Minimum 1-year experience performing similar duties in a commercial kitchen. Demonstrated understanding of basic sanitation and food handling procedures. Demonstrated knowledge of English language with ability to read, write, speak appropriately, follow directions, and effectively communicate with others. Appearance representative of a kitchen professional with regard to grooming, personal hygiene, and attire. Must be able to pass background check and drug screen. Physically, requires constant standing/walking for up to 8 hours; frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of 30 lbs.; considerable use of arms and legs and moving whole body, such as with lifting, carrying, balancing, standing, walking, and stooping; considerable use of hands in order to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
