Description
The Utility Locator is responsible for marking and documenting buried utilities to support WesTower field operations. This person shall be considered an expert in reading locates for telecommunications, power, water, gas, and other underground services. This individual is a team player with a strong work ethic. Core Competencies Safety & Quality Focused Utility Locate Field Marking and Documentation Communication Ground Disturbance and Damage Prevention Process Teamwork Adaptability / Flexibility Problem Solving Accountability and Dependability Attention to Detail Job Responsibilities The Utility Locator will be responsible for the delivery of timely and accurate field markings and locate documentation to WesTower Construction Management in accordance with all USP, WesTower, and facility owner requirements. The Utility Locator will also coordinate the request, filing, and completion of all locate requests through USP and communicate/coordinate the same across WesTower internal teams. The Utility Locator will also coordinate and support the delivery of non-ALP and private utility locates as required to support WesTower operations. The Utility Locator will support all WesTower excavation teams as an SME with respect to the utility locate process and procedures. Requirements Valid AB Class 5 Driver’s License required Minimum 5 years of utility locate experience Must possess Utility Safety Partners (USP) endorsed Locate & Marking certification Must possess USP endorsed Ground Disturbance Level II certification The candidate must possess a good attitude, people skills, and an ability to work well with other company employees and management, and provide excellent customer service. The candidate must also be self-motivated. A love of working outdoors, as most duties are completed outdoors year-round Excellent work habits and a demonstrated ability to perform all aspects of the job to a high degree of satisfaction. Be confident in notifying the Construction Manager of unanticipated field changes and suggesting possible alternatives. Someone who understands that compliance with all company policies, procedures, safety regulations, code, and regulatory requirements is not an optional or part-time thing. Always meet established company standards of appearance and demeanor. Travel and overtime will often be required. Possess good written and oral skills in English. Immediate start if possible. Work Conditions Ability to work in various environments/settings with moderate to loud noise levels Prepared to sit, stand, stop, crouch, reach, and walk for long periods of time Able to lift to 40 lbs. Valid AB Class 5 Driver’s License Overtime and travel, as required.
