Job Overview: This position under close general supervision by the Utility Operations Superintendent and Assistant Utility Operations Superintendent, helps maintain, operates monitors and maintains the water and wastewater systems at Forest Highlands Golf Club to ensure compliance with state and federal agencies; and preforms related duties as assigned. Essential Functions including, but not limited to the following areas: • Water Distribution – Tasks specific to the water system may include the operation of various system components to meet the demands for potable and irrigation water, reading water meters and the maintenance and repair of the distribution system components and piping. Daily logs and records on water system operations and equipment will be completed daily or as directed with accuracy. • Wastewater - Tasks specific to the wastewater systems may include operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant and lift stations, sewer flushing, the repair of both sewage grinder pumps and collection system piping. Daily logs and records on plant and lift station operations and equipment will be completed daily or as directed with accuracy. • On Call - The position requires rotating weekend shift work and emergency on-call duty involving all areas of departmental responsibility. Must respond in a timely manner and be available on weekends, holidays, and after regular work hours when it’s your on-call shift. This creates the opportunity for overtime. • Environment: Duties may be required in inclement weather, lifting heavy objects, wet conditions while repairing water and sewer leaks, and the possible exposure to toxins associated with water and wastewater. Requirements Minimum Requirements: Valid Driver’s License, satisfactory driving record and background check High School Diploma or GED Ability to work on-call rotation, snowplow operations, overtime, occasionally on short notice as needed, after hours weekends and holidays Regular attendance is essential and respond in a timely manner when on call for regular weekend duty or snowplow operations Must possess, or ability to possess within 6 months of hire (or time frame chosen at Utility Superintendent’s discretion), both ADEQ Certifications in Wastewater Treatment Grade 1 and Wastewater Collection Grade 1. Within 12 months of hire (or time frame chosen at Utility Superintendent’s discretion), ADEQ Water Distribution Grade 1. New hire without certification must be signed up for initial test date with 30 days of hire. 1 year minimum experience in related fields such as underground utilities, electrical, plumbing, backflow prevention, trenching, excavation, general construction, backhoe and heavy equipment operation. Knowledge in use of hand tools, digging tools, pneumatic tools, mechanical, critical thinking and math skills Home residence is restricted to an area within a 1 hour response time for on call emergencies and snowplow call taking into account winter and inclement driving conditions Desired Experience and Training Experience in related fields such as electrical, plumbing, backflow certification, trenching, construction, backhoe/heavy equipment operation.
