Summary Utilizes physical labor to assist in water and wastewater line repair, replacement and installation, excavation, traffic control, etc. Operates heavy equipment and specialty equipment associated with the maintenance, repair, and installation of water and sewer projects. Follows all safety policies. Provides a variety of skilled and non-skilled work that varies with career ladder. Manages materials and crew members in the absence of a crew leader. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Repairs water and wastewater lines; cleans and inspects pipes; installs repair parts and evaluates effectiveness of repair. Installs water and wastewater infrastructure including, but not limited to, mains, services, and laterals; taps and meters; valves; manholes; air relief valves; fire hydrants; cleanouts, etc. Assists in excavation; operates air hammer to break rock and asphalt; uses pick and shovel to remove dirt and rock from excavations; uses probe to locate pipes. Cleans wastewater lines; uses hand and / or machine rods to unclog or clean mains & laterals. Performs line locates of water and wastewater infrastructure in accordance with Texas One Call laws. Cleans & maintains tools and equipment. Drives various trucks, primarily dump trucks, to haul material related to the repair and installation of water and wastewater infrastructure. Loads, unloads, and operates dump trucks and other heavy equipment. Installs traffic control in strict accordance with state and federal manuals of traffic control devices. Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent Preferred Qualifications NA Certificates and Licenses Class A CDL Permit within six (6) months; Class A CDL License within eight (8) months; Tanker Endorsement within one (1) year of hire TCEQ Licenses D Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection I within one (1) year Thank you for your interest in the position.
