  South Central Power Company, Ohio’s largest electric cooperative, has an immediate opening for a Utility Technician at our Lancaster, Ohio location. Applicants must be comfortable working with computers and other technical equipment. Candidates must possess strong communication skills, with the ability to deal with employees, members and the general public in a courteous and proper manner. What you’ll be doing The Utility Technician position performs functions related to single phase and three phase metering such as reading, installing, programming, disconnects, reconnects, collections and performing testing and diagnostics on equipment and meters.  Performs troubleshooting, restoration, and maintenance on 600volt services and equipment. The Utility Technician will perform technical work related to Scada, AMI and electronic field equipment as well as installation of Generlink generators. This position will at times act as a flagger, truck driver and serve as a back up to the Warehouse Worker. What the job requires  The successful candidate will be required to maintain a valid class B Driver’s License and have the ability to withstand adverse weather and environmental conditions. A high school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of one year’s experience in a related field is required. Must be qualified to perform energized work up to 600 volts.  We do not offer visa sponsorship or accept candidates on work visas at this time.
