Description The Utility Worker is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing all kitchen equipment, utensils, and dishes to ensure a safe and inviting dining experience for residents. The Utility Worker works closely with the culinary team to support meal preparation and service, ensuring all items are readily available and in pristine condition. This role also involves maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety in accordance with health regulations and community policies ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS • Washes and inspects all dishware and glassware. Stores clean utensils, dishes, and glassware in proper places. • Takes ownership to ensure residents and guests dining experience exceeds expectations. • Keeps dishwashing machine and dish room in clean operating condition. Reports equipment malfunction or breakdowns promptly to the Culinary Service Manager. • Monitors and logs dish machine water temperature and chemical sanitizer levels throughout the shift. • Sweeps and mops kitchen area and waitstaff station and cleans filter over stove area. • Assists waitstaff with delivery of food and beverages as needed to dining rooms and/or waitstaff stations. • May assist waitstaff with serving and bringing in dishes to the kitchen, when necessary. • May deliver meals to residents in their apartments, when necessary. • Performs assigned cleaning assignments according to established policies and utilizes the proper cleaning chemicals. Keeps work areas clean and uncluttered. • Ensures dishes are readily available for the next meal. Stores dishes properly to prevent contamination. • Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS: • Promotes and protects residents’ rights, treats residents with dignity and respect. • Ensures confidentiality of all resident information at all times (e.g., when answering telephone or speaking to co-workers). • Approaches all residents in a kind, gentle, and friendly manner. Maintains confidentiality of all resident information. • Demonstrates courteous, polite, and friendly attitude with residents, families, and visitors. • Demonstrates active listening techniques, gains support through effective relationships, and treats others with dignity and respect. • Attends in-services and educational programs; participates in continuing education as required. • Responds to residents, families, and visitors by providing immediate assistance. • Functions as a team member, assisting and supporting co-workers as needed. • Uses personal protective equipment when at risk of exposure to blood or other potentially hazardous body fluids and chemicals. • Familiarizes self with MSDS and Universal Worker Precautions for all dishwashing and housekeeping chemicals. • Reports injury to self and others to supervisor immediately. • Participates in facility Quality Improvement program as directed. • Complies with all documentation policies and procedures. • Uses proper body mechanics when bending or lifting. • Maintains knowledge of and complies with community Infection Prevention policies and procedures. • Knows disaster and fire safety policies, including fire alarm system procedures. • Performs duties in a professional manner. • Complies with community dress code. • Attends scheduled staff meetings and/or in-service programs.
