Overview The Utilization Review Assistant NE supports the operational execution of the utilization review process, with responsibilities that include documentation coordination, resource allocation tracking, interdepartmental communication, and payer correspondence. This role contributes to timely authorization of services, efficient use of clinical resources, and alignment with internal policies and regulatory standards. The Utilization Review Assistant works closely with clinical, care management, and administrative teams to help ensure patients receive the appropriate level of care, while supporting data collection and process continuity across the review function. Responsibilities Review Coordination & Documentation Management Submit clinical documentation for authorization and continued stay reviews according to payer guidelines and organizational timelines Maintain and update patient review records in designated systems, ensuring completeness and accuracy for audit readiness Coordinate internal review workflows by tracking pending cases, flagging documentation gaps, and aligning with daily review priorities Monitor and respond to payer correspondence regarding review outcomes, status updates, or documentation requests Assist in preparing documentation for second-level reviews and case escalations Enter key utilization metrics and outcomes into health record and review platforms to support data accuracy and reporting for utilization review process. Resource Allocation & Interdepartmental Coordination Support daily bed and level-of-care tracking by monitoring patient census reports and assisting in prioritization of review queues Communicate with departments to confirm patient placement, discharge planning progress, and readiness for continued stay reviews Assist in coordinating review scheduling based on staff availability and clinical resource capacity Collaborate with revenue cycle, admissions, and care management to ensure alignment on authorization status and level of care determination Maintain awareness of patient throughput goals and contribute to efficient allocation of clinical resources Compliance, Reporting & Operational Support Maintain confidentiality and data integrity in all review-related activities in compliance with HIPAA and internal policy Prepare routine utilization summaries or case tracking reports for internal leadership or quality review Maintain working templates, logs, and tools used in the daily execution of review processes Recommend improvements to documentation, handoff, or tracking procedures to enhance review team efficiency Qualifications High school graduate required IA Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training in state(s) where providing care. IA Adult Dependent Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training in state(s) where providing care
