At Unite Students, we create a Home for Success by leveraging technology to empower students to thrive in their university journey. We have an exciting opportinity for a Midweight UX/UI Designer to join our team based in Bristol on a 12 month contract.
As a Midweight UX/UI Designer, you will play a key role in crafting user experiences. Reporting to a Senior UX/UI Designer, you will be part of a dedicated UX team, contributing to innovative projects and digital solutions.
With support from the Lead and Senior Designers you will contribute to ongoing product work on the website. You will collaborate with a UX Researcher to validate assumptions, and ensure solutions are grounded in insights. You will be passionate about quality, usability and simplicity.
You will facilitate workshops, create user journey maps, define information architecture for complex products, and design UI under the guidance of senior team members.

What You`ll Be Doing

  • Champion user-centred design principles, ensuring UX/UI standards across designs.
  • Maintain brand guidelines and the design system to ensure consistency across digital experiences.
  • Work closely with Product Owners (POs), Business Analysts (BAs), Developers, and Stakeholders to research, ideate, and conceptualise design solutions.
  • Conduct research, user interviews, and usability testing to inform design decisions.
  • Translate concepts into wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI design (iterating based on feedback and testing.)
  • Share ideas and suggest improvements during peer review sessions.
  • Leverage backlog management tools (e.g., Azure DevOps) to track progress and align with project timelines.

What We`re Looking for in You

  • Demonstrable experience in UX/UI or product design.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing web design skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions effectively.
  • Proficiency in building low and high fidelity UX/UI flows and prototypes in tools like Figma, Adobe XD and Protopie.
  • A practical understanding of accessibility requirements.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
  • Collaborative, a good communicator, and strong problem-solver.
