Description
What you can expect As a Pilot & Trainer, you are the first person who truly trusts our systems - in the literal sense. You fly the experimental and certification-related test campaigns that prove our UxV systems operate safely across their entire operational spectrum. You methodically expand the flight envelope of our systems - through controlled tests, pushing the limits step by step. You conduct the certification flight test campaigns and generate the evidence required by our certification authority. You make the go/no-go decision in flight - on your own responsibility and without compromising safety. You draft the Flight Manual from the operator’s perspective: procedures, limits, and emergency procedures. You translate flight behavior into structured engineering feedback for mechanical systems, avionics, and mechatronics. You are responsible for training our clients’ future pilots and operators—training concepts, procedures, and hands-on instruction. You report every anomaly honestly and immediately through our Just Culture channel—your openness about what happens in the air is critical to safety. Your profile Education: Formal flight test training (Test Pilot School—EPNER, ETPS, USNTPS, NTPS, or equivalent) is strongly preferred. For UAS: relevant UAS flight test/remote pilot certification with experimental experience. A degree in engineering (aerospace, mechanical engineering) is a clear advantage for the engineering feedback aspect of the role. Experience: 5+ years of flight test or experimental flight experience, ideally including UAS/UAV experimental testing. Demonstrable experience in envelope expansion tests and certification flight test campaigns. Experience in drafting flight manuals is a plus. Regulatory Knowledge: Working knowledge of EASA flight test requirements, Specific Category UAS operations (SORA), and the role of flight testing in the certification chain of evidence. Understanding of occurrence reporting requirements. Technical Skills: Strong ability to correlate subjective flight impressions with instrumented flight data. Proficiency in using flight test instrumentation and data analysis tools. Languages: Business fluency in German and English (aviation standard) required Attitude: Disciplined risk management rather than thrill-seeking. Uncompromising honesty about what actually happened. Strong communication across the pilot-engineer interface. We offer One of the most responsible flight roles in the European UAV industry - your in-flight decisions protect people and equipment Direct influence on the certification readiness of our entire product family A team that takes Just Culture seriously - honest error reporting is protected, not punished Flexible work schedules, access to state-of-the-art testing infrastructure Collaboration is our top priority. We're not looking for cogs in the machine, but rather individuals who enrich our team and whom we value as people. We don't believe in silos. We celebrate successes together, learn from mistakes together, and support each other – always as equals. Short decision-making processes and open doors are standard practice here. Your ideas won't get lost in bureaucracy; they'll be heard, discussed, and implemented. The tech world never stands still, and neither will you. We support your personal and professional development (certifications, conferences, courses) with a dedicated budget and paid time off. Collective agreement For this position we offer a gross annual salary starting from € 55.356,00 on a full-time basis. Depending on your qualifications and experience, overpayment is a given for us. About us We are VectaCore. A European-owned technology company building unmanned systems (UxV's) for the air, water, and land. As a young company with a fast-growing team backed by the PIERER Digital Holding, we replace manual inspection, transport, and monitoring in industries like critical infrastructure and public safety. We do this because we believe the people who secure, protect, and build our world deserve uncompromising autonomy across every domain.
Responsibilities
Conduct experimental and certification flight test campaigns to expand the operational envelope of UxV systems safely. Responsible for drafting flight manuals and training future clients' pilots and operators.
