Graceville Women's Refuge is one of 39 homelessness services The Salvation Army operates specifically for women and children escaping violence. More than 200 women have found safety and new beginnings at Graceville Women's Refuge this year. The journey Graceville takes with them, helps clients to see a different future filled with hope. As a Boutique Assistant, you are key in helping our women and their children in their journeys, restoring hope and dignity by building their clothing collection. Two hours each week is all it takes to ensure we have the most suitable stock readily available, making a practical and positive impact on these women's lives. Our philosophy is that every person deserves dignity, respect, and quality of service, and that everyone deserves a life free from family and domestic violence and to feel safe in their own home. Key responsibilities Organising and maintaining stock: By helping to ensure our stock is organised efficiently, easy to find and well-kept in the Boutique, you’ll be contributing to the wonderful work at Graceville and assisting us in meeting the basic needs of our vulnerable clients. Inventory control: By sourcing further stock to fill gaps and keeping an eye on our inventory, you will be ensuring that there is sufficient stock for incoming women and children, assisting us to meet our clients’ immediate needs. Background check requirements Background checks play an important part in our commitment to being a safe organisation. Where an applicant has disclosable history, the selection process includes a fair assessment and a risk management approach. Collection of personal information is handled per our privacy and confidentiality policies. Below is what is required for this role: As this role is in a high-risk environment and will likely encounter vulnerable people and their children, it requires a Working with Children Check. As this role is in a high-risk environment and will likely encounter vulnerable people, it requires a Police Check. (This police check can be completed via The Salvation Army through a no-cost to the volunteer process). Development opportunities with this role This role will give volunteers an opportunity to develop skills and build experience in in some retail practices, valuations of donations, sorting and stocking of shelves, as well as experience in working as a part of a team. Volunteers will receive on the job training and support, working alongside passionate and experienced community service professionals in a caring and supportive environment. Responsibilities
The Boutique Assistant will organize and maintain stock to ensure it is efficiently managed and accessible. They will also control inventory by sourcing additional stock to meet the needs of women and children at the refuge.
