All this wouldn’t be possible without a team of volunteers, specifically volunteering in the role of Food Collection Driver who provides support in collecting bread and food, delivering it to the Corps on rostered days, unpacking and storing it effectively for distribution for our community. The volunteer driver provides efficient, safe, reliable, and courteous collection and delivery of all goods involved in operations of service. Key responsibilities: Driving: Bringing a high level of driving capability, friendly professionalism and reliability to collecting goods. Vehicle care: Drivers are key in ensuring the vehicle is safe and fully operational by regularly checking tyres, fuel levels and monitoring oil and water levels. Diligently ensure vehicle is checked before each shift and rectify any issues before collecting donations, reporting issues and repairs to manager Administration: Limited to filling in the vehicle log book and ensuring an identification badge is worn at all times, as well communications with manager regarding any concerns that may arise. Goods handling: Unload donated food and store as required. Qualifications and skills (desired/required): Current C Class driver’s licence applicable to vehicle type Good communication skills Customer service experience highly regarded Background check requirements: Background checks play an important part in our commitment to being a safe organisation. Where an applicant has disclosable history, the selection process includes a fair assessment and a risk management approach. Collection of personal information is handled per our privacy and confidentiality policies. Below is what is required for this role: As this role is restriced to adult contact a Working with Children Check/Working with Vulnerable People Check is not required As this role involves dealing with confidential information and entering sites, it requires a Police Check Time Required & Commitment: As agreed with manager Development opportunities with this role This role will give volunteers an opportunity to develop skills and build experience in goods transportation, logistics, customer service and teamwork. Responsibilities
The volunteer driver is responsible for collecting and delivering food donations efficiently and safely. They also ensure the vehicle is operational and assist in unloading and storing donated food.
