Key responsibilities: Gardening activities: Applying a wealth of gardening knowledge and experience to regular maintenance such as sweeping, raking, mowing, weeding, pruning, mulching, composting and watering, as well as ongoing seasonal tasks to keep the harvest garden productive and pest-free. Garden projects: Using vision, creativity and some project and budgeting management, consult with manager to plan and build garden beds, paths, and other garden features. Garden equipment: Bringing a good dose of responsibility, ensure tools and equipment are properly checked, used and stored, with particular attention to ensuring they are maintained in safe working order at all times. Qualifications and skills (desired/required): Knowledge and experience in plants, soils, seasonal maintenance and small gardening projects is required Confident using and caring for gardening tools and equipment Level of fitness to undertake gardening activities, including digging and lifting soil Good communication skills, both listening to and conveying information/ideas/suggestions Background check requirements: Background checks play an important part in our commitment to being a safe organisation. Below is what is required for this role. As this role requires access to valuable equipment and at times, unsupervised entry to secure areas, it requires a Police Check In some states, this role is considered child-related and therefore may require a Working with Children Check/Working with Vulnerable People Check Time Required & Commitment: 9 am - 1 pm. Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays, up to 10 hours per week as needed. Responsibilities
The Gardening Team Member is responsible for maintaining garden areas to ensure they are safe and enjoyable for community members. This includes regular gardening activities and planning garden projects in consultation with the manager.
