Students undertaking placement at this Service will gain valuable experience in a variety of practical and administrative activities to support the centre, whilst also meeting the competency requirements of their tertiary studies. This placement is aimed at students who are currently studying in a relevant field. This placement is for a fixed term according to the student’s course requirements. Key responsibilities: Meet with work placement supervisor regularly to plan and discuss required placement activities and for supervision to meet professional development capabilities. Students will observe and support the programs and activities by practically assisting with the smooth running of programs as well providing administrative support. Maintain confidentiality of interactions and information Keep children safe by always abiding by Salvation Army’s child safe policies and code of conduct Qualifications and skills (desired/required): Be enrolled in a recognised Tertiary Educational Institute / RTO and enter into a formal Placement Agreement with The Salvation Army (TSA) Keen interest in the challenges and opportunities of this service A sound knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is highly desired Background check requirements: Background checks play an important part in our commitment to being a safe organisation. Below is what is required for this role. As this role is a child-related role, it requires a Working with Children Check/Working with Vulnerable People Check As this role involves dealing with confidential information, it requires a Police Check Time Required & Commitment: As agreed with Centre Manager. This volunteer role may require a short-term commitment of up to 38 hours per week to complete the education and training requirements for no longer than a period of 2 months duration.
