Job Description Scientist responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Perform tissue culture-based potency assays on live vaccine products, process intermediates, and related experimental sample Prepare solutions and culture media Maintain multiple cell lines Maintain records and test results following good manufacturing practices (GMP) Author and/or review scientific reports, SOPs, and assay procedures Work independently and efficiently Document work clearly and perform tests accurately Communicate effectively with client staff members Experience with ELISA and other cell-based assays Provide analytical assay/technical support for new and in-line vaccine programs Routine sample testing to support in-line product improvement Participate in departmental and cross-functional project teams Perform analysis of vaccine products and process intermediates utilizing various analytical techniques Effectively summarize and present results and recommendations at meetings and technical review sessions Qualifications Minimum Requirements: BS degree with 5-7 years’ experience, MS degree with 3-5 years’ experience, or PhD with 0-1 years’ experience in biotechnology, biology, cell biology, virology, biochemistry, or other related degree concentration. Experience with cell culture, aseptic technique, ELISA, PCR, Capillary Electrophoresis (CE), Western Blot, Southern blot, Cell biology and/or virology Strong laboratory/bench skills including pipettes and automation, with previous experience independently and collaboratively designing, executing and interpreting the results of analytical assays Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in a hands-on laboratory setting, self-motivated, adaptable, and a positive attitude Strong scientific, computer, organizational, and documentation skills, attention to detail Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to perform method development and optimization Familiarity with aseptic techniques Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship Preferred Qualifications: Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail Additional Information This position is Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of West Point, PA are encouraged to apply.
