Job Title: Van Aide Rate of Pay: $18.81/Hourly Department: Transportation Schedule: TBD   Position Overview: A Van Aide plays a pivotal role in a supported person’s life while being transported from their homes to our day program locations. The Van Aide will provide support to the Van Driver by monitoring the individuals, loading/uploading passengers, assisting with safety equipment (ex. fastening seatbelts), help maintain an orderly and efficient transportation process.  Essential Job Functions: * Aid in the safe transporting of individuals with developmental disabilities to and from their residences and day programs at Athelas Institute or relevant supportive employment work sites at the designated hours of operations. * Always maintain a professional attitude in relationships with both the clients and their caregivers. * Promote the overall safety and welfare of said clients while they are in transit, embarking, and disembarking the van. * Follow emergency and safety regulations as cited in the policies and procedure relevant to the transportation program. * Abide by all transportation and Maryland State laws and regulations. * Maintain a safe atmosphere by ensuring that all passengers are wearing seatbelts, and promptly report any safety concerns (vehicle or client related) to the transportation coordinator. * Fill out appropriate agency forms for accidents. Injuries and/or incidents, and immediately submit to supervisor. * Participate in training at designated times. * Other duties as assigned by Transportation Director. Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)   Training and Experience: Preferred DDA core competencies, Mandt Systems Training, CPR / First Aid, MTTP Experience working with people with IDD/DD preferred but not required.   Physical Requirements:  A person must be able to walk, stand, and sit for up to 8 hours. A person must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. or more based on assigned supported person (using health and safety lifting / turning techniques or assistive devices). A person must be able to successfully demonstrate all Mandt Systems training physical interventions and techniques, to include assisting supported person to standing, providing assistance with ambulation, physical releases, and physical restraints.    Benefits: Health: Health, Vision, Dental, supplemental coverage through Aflac.
