Stewart St. Dayton, OH 45417 Job Description Primary Function: Safely transport youth ages 6–18 and staff between Club locations, schools, and approved program sites in accordance with BGCD’s mission and safety standards. Ensure a positive, respectful environment on the vehicle; complete required documentation; and support Club operations between routes. Vehicle Transportation/Maintenance Complete and document pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections; promptly report safety/mechanical issues. Follow assigned routes and schedules; communicate delays, hazards, or route changes to supervisors. Safely pick up and drop off members and staff at designated locations; verify authorized riders. Enforce safety procedures (e.g., seat belts, appropriate behavior) and BGCD policies on the vehicle. Maintain accurate rosters, attendance logs, incident reports, mileage/fuel logs, and cleanliness of vehicles. Coordinate routine maintenance, fueling, and repairs with supervisor and vendors as directed. Operate vehicles in compliance with Ohio traffic laws and BGCD policies, modeling defensive driving. Professionally communicate with caregivers, school personnel, and staff; escalate concerns appropriately. Collaboration/Relationships: Maintains close contact with Dir. of Program Operations, Club Director and other Club staff, volunteers and other stakeholders. Work closely with Director of Program Operations to determine where assistance is needed in programming between routes. Work collaboratively with other Program Leaders and Leadership Staff to enhance program development. Actively participate in professional development training. Physical Requirements/Work Environment: We maintain a 15:1 member to staff ratio. Activities are varied and require active engagement during educational and recreational programming, which may include extended periods of walking and standing. Maximum unassisted lift = 50 lbs. Average lift less than 25 lbs. Requires ability to use computer, various standard and specialized software and database systems, keyboard, calculator and typical office machines. Education/Experience Requirement: High School Diploma or GED required. Youth Development experience is a plus. Skills/Knowledge Required Valid driver’s license; insurable with a clean driving record. Background check required CPR/First Aid preferred (or willingness to obtain). Reliable, punctual, and able to manage youth safely and respectfully. Energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards. Ability to work with a team. An understanding of the needs and interests of young people. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong organizational skills, with ability to work effectively with technology.
