Job Title: Varsity Volleyball Head Coach Location: Rudolf Steiner School Season Dates: August 24 – November 1 Compensation: $5,500 stipend Position Overview Rudolf Steiner School is seeking a passionate and program-focused Varsity Volleyball Head Coach to lead and grow our high school volleyball program. This role is ideal for a coach who is excited about building a sustainable, competitive program while developing student-athletes through skill development, teamwork, and leadership. The Head Coach will oversee all aspects of the varsity volleyball program during the fall season (August 24–November 1) and help build long-term program growth and enthusiasm for volleyball within the school community. Program Development Responsibilities * Develop and implement a vision for the varsity volleyball program * Establish a strong team culture focused on accountability, sportsmanship, and growth * Build excitement and participation in volleyball across the school community * Support recruitment and retention of student-athletes within the school * Create a player development pathway that supports athletes across grade levels * Collaborate with the Athletic Director to strengthen the volleyball program and align with the school’s mission and values Seasonal Responsibilities * Plan and lead all varsity practices and competitions * Develop a structured, season-long training plan focused on skill progression and team strategy * Prepare the team for competition, including game planning and in-game coaching * Communicate clearly and consistently with players, families, and school leadership * Supervise assistant coaches (if applicable) * Manage team equipment and uniforms Qualifications * Prior volleyball coaching experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level preferred * Strong knowledge of volleyball fundamentals, systems, and player development * Demonstrated leadership and communication skills * Commitment to mentorship and positive team culture * CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Rudolf Steiner School, an independent Nursery to 12 school and the first Waldorf School in North America, is located on Manhattan's Upper East Side.
