Inova Loudoun Hospital is looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) Vascular Access to join the team. This role will be PRN, 10-hour shifts, Monday – Saturday, with the greatest need being Saturday. Inova is consistently ranked a national healthcare leader in safety, quality and patient experience. We are also proud to be consistently recognized as a top employer in both the D.C. metro area and the nation.  Featured Benefits: * Retirement: Inova matches the first 5% of eligible contributions – starting on your first day. * Mental Health Support: offering all Inova team members, their spouses/partners, and their children 25 mental health coaching or therapy sessions, per person, per year, at no cost.   Registered Nurse (RN) Vascular Access Job Responsibilities: * Tailors and prioritizes caring practice to individual needs, including cultural/ethical/spiritual needs * Participates in the planning of routine transitional health care needs and responds to changes in patient's needs and holistic caring * Ensures efficiency in the delivery of care and determines immediate priorities and offers solutions for problems * Utilizes correct use of Vein Positioning System (VPS) to ensure proper tip placement and ultrasound to ensure vein cannulation. * Monitors the EKG, hemodynamic variances, and other physiologic data during the procedure * Selects appropriate instruments and supplies based on a patient presentation during the procedure and maintains proper sterile technique throughout the procedure * Updates primary RN with the ability to use line, type of line placed, and any special considerations (eg. gauze dressing or clotting dressing used) * Immediately recognizes and responds to adverse clinical situations and directs others to assist in a favorable patient outcome * Documents entire procedure, including complications, equipment used, medications administered as part of the patient's permanent record * Serves as a clinical resource and serves as a mentor to health care team members in educating on infection control, care and maintenance of the inserted device, and clinical resource in troubleshooting * Effectively manages supply usage by anticipating supply needs during the procedure and effectively maintain supplies within the lab * May perform additional duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: * Education: Bachelor's Degree Nursing or Associate's Degree. If RN has an Associate's Degree, within 2 years of date of hire, they must meet with their nurse leader and conduct the following: 1.) Identify which accredited school they plan to attend 2.) Provide a written plan with anticipated BSN completion date 3.) Submit a review of transcripts from the school indicating the required pre-requisites and timeline for taking the courses 4.) Complete BSN within 5 years of start date. * Experience: 1-year Registered Nurse clinical experience assessing and placing peripheral access including Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC), Midline Catheters, and Peripheral IV's * Certification/Licensure: Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association; Vascular Access-Board Certified within 12 months after completion of orientation; Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state Registered Nurse license   Preferred Qualifications:  * Experience: Prior ultrasound guided IV access training + 1 year of bedside nursing experience.
