Department: Surgery Vascular Lab Reports to: Technical Director Summary: The Vascular Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of non-invasive diagnostic vascular examinations, contributing to the accurate assessment of vascular conditions, including the documentation and reporting of results from arterial, venous, carotid, and abdominal vascular examinations. The Vascular Technologist's expertise supports our commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare services. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Perform non-invasive vascular tests, including carotid, arterial, venous, and abdominal duplex testing, ankle-brachial Index testing, and hemodialysis access evaluations. Assist with interventional procedures, including venous closure procedures and injections. Drive the development of patient care, fostering lasting relationships through personalized and forward-thinking approaches. Position patients and adjust equipment to ensure optimal conditions for vascular testing with precision and accuracy. Provide clear and detailed instructions to patients regarding procedures, ensuring their comfort and understanding. Prepare comprehensive test results and offer preliminary interpretations for physicians. Maintain and stock examination rooms, creating a well-organized and efficient testing environment. Make minor adjustments to and ensure the cleanliness and functionality of lab equipment. Collaborate with the Technical Director to optimize test accuracy and adherence to protocols. Uphold patient confidentiality as a top priority throughout the testing process. Physically assist and guide patients during testing procedures to ensure their safety and comfort. Participate in the education and training of student vascular technologists, covering equipment operation, patient care, diagnostics, and quality assurance. Other Professional Opportunities and Duties: Attend Vascular Technology conferences and Quality Assurance meetings to stay at the forefront of industry developments. Maintain necessary credentials through continuing medical education to remain current with the latest advancements in the field. Engage in collaborative projects with the Technical Director, including lab accreditation, equipment selection, revision of test protocols, and involvement in research initiatives. Qualifications Minimum Job Requirements: Education: RVT Associate/BS in ultrasound or RT with ultrasound certification required. Possess knowledge of anatomy and physiology, vascular lab equipment, and common safety hazards to ensure safe and accurate testing. Experience/Qualifications: Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
