  • Post Secondary Degree in Biology, Natural Resource Sciences, Environmental Science or related field.
  • Possession of or immediately eligibility for designation as a Registered Professional Biologist.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience conducting floristic inventories or rare plant surveys, including planning and implementing field projects, advanced field identification of plants, and specimen vouchering.
  • Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

A.E.W. Limited Partnership (A.E.W. LP) is seeking a full-time on-going Vegetation Ecologist in the Southern Interior or Lower Mainland of British Columbia. The Vegetation Ecologist supports and oversees a variety of multidisciplinary and vegetation projects ensuring that they are completed to a high standard and support the protection and advancement of Nlaka’pamux title and rights. Reporting to the Director of Wildlife & Environment, the Vegetation Ecologist will:

  • Lead and perform wetland assessments and vegetation inventories, with emphasis on communities and species of concern, including rare species.
  • Prepare environmental assessments and develop mitigation plans to meet municipal, provincial, and federal regulatory requirements across sectors such as renewable energy, oil and gas, mining, land development, and transportation.
  • Contribute to a range of natural resource planning initiatives, including natural area inventories and biophysical assessments.
  • Maintain strict adherence to Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) protocols.
  • Conduct desktop mapping of wetlands and vegetation communities, ensuring compliance with Terrestrial Ecosystem Mapping (TEM) standards.
  • Engage with internal teams, external clients, regulators, and stakeholders to foster strong, collaborative relationships.
  • Lead and coordinate field assessments as needed.
  • Assess and respond to requests for proposals by developing comprehensive work plans, budgets, and timelines.
  • Commitment to the protection and advancement of Nlaka’pamux title and rights.
  • Working in partnership with members of the Nlaka’pamux Nation Tribal Council to ensure consistency of approaches and methodologies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
