THE OPPORTUNITY

Triton Environmental Consultants Ltd. (“Triton”) is seeking experienced Vegetation Ecologists, to join a well-established team of environmental professionals in both our Regina SK & Saskatoon SK office locations.

Responsibilities, include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Responsible for providing vegetation ecological expertise to field staff and project management teams
  • Conducting vegetation inventories
  • Conducting vegetation and soil assessments
  • Conducting wetland assessments
  • Conducting rare plant surveys
  • Survey planning
  • Permit closure reporting

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in botany, plant ecology, biology, or a related field
  • Accreditation or eligibility for accreditation with a professional governing body recognized in Saskatchewan (P.Biol., P.Ag., AScT.) is an asset
  • Qualified as a Surveyor as per the Saskatchewan Vascular Plan Species Detection Protocol (Minimum 120 days of taxonomic field experience as a vegetation ecologist) having crew lead experience is preferred
  • Exceptional plant identification skills for wetland, prairie grassland, and upland communities in boreal landscapes
  • Specific experience conducting vegetation inventories, within grassland and boreal habitats
  • Experience with wetland delineation and classification
  • Soil classification experience
  • Willingness to work in the field in remote locations
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to learn
  • Effective technical writing skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Detail-oriented with solid organizational and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative working style
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
  • Experience operating off-highway vehicles
