Description
This development team that is evolving our ability to sign off durability analytically. This team is made up of many different skill sets, and while you would be one of the experts in Durability FEA, there is opportunity for you to grow your expertise in MBD, data analytics, validation and customer usage characterization. You would be bringing an expertise that is thin within our department. As such, your impact to open workstreams will be immediate and apparent. Proactively analyze vehicle designs and system interfaces to identify potential durability, NVH, or vehicle dynamics issues before they arise. Utilize basic physics principles and CAE loadcases to evaluate and prove out identified design weaknesses and potential failure modes. Collaborate with design, engineering, and manufacturing teams to understand system requirements and identify critical interaction points. Develop and propose creative design solutions and countermeasures to mitigate identified risks and improve overall vehicle performance and robustness. Conduct thorough root cause analysis for identified issues, distilling complex problems into understandable insights. Established and active employee resource groups 5 years of experience (not necessarily degree-based) in an engineering, analysis, or technical role where identifying and resolving mechanical system issues, particularly related to durability, was a primary responsibility. Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrated ability to dissect complex technical problems, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions. Fundamental Engineering Principles: Solid understanding of basic physics, mechanics, materials science, and engineering principles relevant to mechanical systems. CAE Familiarity: Experience with basic physics-based CAE tools and methodologies for loadcase analysis, simulation, and structural assessment. This includes understanding how to set up and interpret simulations to evaluate design integrity. Design Weakness Identification: A proven "good eye" for spotting potential vulnerabilities and failure points in mechanical designs and system integrations. Initiative & Proactiveness: Ability to independently identify risks, raise concerns, and drive investigations without constant supervision. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate complex technical issues, risks, and solutions clearly and concisely to diverse audiences. Creative Thinking: Capacity to think outside the box to propose innovative design solutions and problem-solving approaches. Automotive Industry Experience: Familiarity with vehicle systems and components, including chassis, body structures, powertrain, and their interactions. Durability Expertise: Specific experience or strong interest in durability engineering principles, fatigue analysis, and material behavior under load. NVH and Vehicle Dynamics Knowledge: Basic understanding of NVH and vehicle dynamics concepts and their impact on vehicle performance and customer perception. Cross-functional Collaboration: Experience working effectively with multi-disciplinary teams (design, manufacturing, testing) to achieve common goals.
