THE ROLE OF A LIGHT VEHICLE ELECTRIC/AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN
The Apprenticeship is geared toward training the next generation of Light Vehicle Service Technicians to start there journey in the electric vehicle technology process and develop their diagnostic skills in all areas as well s the traditional petrol engine vehicles
Light Vehicle Service Technicians maintain and repair cars and other light vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes. They are trained across all areas of vehicle mechanics and electronics, from engines, transmissions, exhaust and fuel systems to braking, steering, suspension, and air conditioning. Their expertise also covers electrical and electronic features such as lighting, infotainment, and security systems, as well as hybrid and a focus on electric vehicle technologies, including high-voltage batteries, charging systems, and electric drive units. Technicians diagnose faults, carry out routine servicing, perform repairs, and ensure vehicles are safe, efficient, and compliant with regulations.
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
· To undertake all college and company training required to successfully complete the Apprentice Scheme to the expected and agreed standards.
· To accurately and skilfully undertake the repair and servicing of vehicles, whilst detecting and diagnosing any additional faults for further repair, ensuring all work is completed safely and to the satisfaction of the Service Manager and/or supervising Technician.
· To work effectively within the dealership team to ensure industry-leading standards of customer care and satisfaction at all times.
· This role will be suited to an individual with a passion for technology and electrical systems development.
