Description:

MINIMUM POSITION KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be a master mechanic.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years’ specific experience in vehicle maintenance operations, supervision, inspection, Quality Assurance (QA) and related areas. Experience in the problem diagnosis, repair and maintenance of a wide variety of heavy and/or specialized automotive equipment.
  • Must also possess superb mechanical skills, as well as master knowledge of hydraulics and/or pneumatic systems.
  • Previous experience as a Lead or Supervisor in similar role required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
  • Must be a USN to fill this position.
  • Ability to read and write English is required.
  • Solid communications skills, strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to work and lead as a member of a diverse, dynamic team.
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
  • Possess a valid state issued driver’s license and passport.
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
  • Prior overseas government contracting experience preferred.

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Provide program planning, execution, and supervision of contract labor to meet all vehicle management, vehicle maintenance, and material control, in support of the mission. This position is in support of the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) and is located at Ascension Island Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF).

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure operator vehicle care for GOVs and Government furnished vehicles and equipment IAW AFI 23-203. Operate and inspect machines or equipment to diagnose defects.
  • Provide vehicle operations, maintenance, and support for all registered and non-registered government vehicles to include approved vehicles from the host organization, AAAF Tenants, other Government contractors or contractors as approved by the Contracting Officer or SLD 45 Support Agreements.
  • Assist in creating Management Plan.
  • Direct, supervise and lead a vehicle maintenance and ground transportation team.
  • Generate a DPAS work order on vehicle/equipment inspections and repair of USAF owned vehicles IAW instructions outlined in AFI 24-302.
  • Certify all maintenance performed on crash, emergency response and fire response vehicles/equipment.
  • Provide for efficient and economical operation and maintenance of the vehicle fleet. Responsibilities include accountability of vehicle fleet, monitoring vehicle data integrity/quality/accuracy, utilizing DPAS, scheduling of maintenance requirements, establishing and managing vehicle control program and analysis with base fleet management IAW AFI 24-302, Chap 4. Fleet Accountability.
  • Validate work orders awaiting approval (system generated) daily. Specifically, system generated work orders shall either be included in periodic maintenance scheduling or voided if generated in error.
  • Request current GSA/Government vehicles/equipment, odometer/hour meter readings from using organizations.
  • identify depot repair requirements and report these requirements as part of the monthly AAAF Facility Work Activity Summary. Perform delivery inspection of all incoming vehicles and equipment.
  • Tests overhauled equipment to insure operating efficiency.
  • Perform corrosion protection on all vehicles where body repair is performed to safeguard the integrity of the repair.
  • Repair and replace vehicle tires and remove and reinstall mounted tires as necessary.
  • Provide batteries and battery service for all vehicles and equipment.
  • Repair or replace parts, assemblies, subassemblies, and components as required.
  • Ensure Amentum Safety, Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) and Environmental procedures are complied with.
