Description
Operates passenger bus (i.e., 23 or more passengers) to transport passengers (e.g., students, consumers, residents, personnel) to & from Mount Vernon Developmental Center for various activities (e.g., athletic activities, educational programs & functions, training programs, field trips, chartered events, medical appointments, other institutional activities). Operates station wagon, mini-bus, van or truck to transport personnel, material &/or supplies; operates maintenance equipment (e.g., tractor, snowplow, lawn mower, all maintenance equipment) to perform or assist in snow removal or lawn maintenance duties. Inspects, services, & maintains vehicles; prepares mileage, fuel, passenger & related reports. Performs deliveries of supplies & food for various departments (e.g. kitchen, storeroom, nursing, Fed Ex, UPS, OPI, Central Farm, other orders received at the dock or elsewhere on campus, etc.); picks up hazardous items upon request (e.g. dirty laundry from various areas picks up & delivers laundry from living areas, PH &E, and day programming; picks up food carts, full & empty, from living areas; delivers campus supplies from the storeroom; delivers mail as requested; assists supervisor with new hire employees in vehicle driving training; maintains the vehicles (check fluids, tires, wipers, etc); assist in sidewalk snow removal; inspects vehicle for safety & reports deficiencies; performs vehicle inspection before driving; requires considerable knowledge of safe driving practice (e.g. state driving codes, rules of the road, safe operation of air brakes, etc). Completes (e.g. writes, calculates, marks check list) motor vehicle reports (e.g. trip fuel, mileage, maintenance inspection); attends in services & training as required (e.g. first aid, CPR, fire safety); performs miscellaneous related duties as directed (e.g. waxes vehicles & cleans interiors; cleans shop/work area; inventories motor vehicle parts, supplies & fuel). Assist in training new employees as requested by supervisor (e.g. defensive driving, wheelchair tie-down & stretcher loading & unloading). Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition, subtraction, multiplication & division & reading, writing & speaking English; 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. operating passenger bus or van; valid Commercial Driver License with appropriate endorsement for size & type of motorized equipment operated as regulated by Sections 4506.01 & 4506.12 of Revised Code. -Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
