Description Purpose and Scope: The VERA-NG Lead Technician is responsible for operating, maintaining, and sustaining the VERA-NG system in support of live training missions at NAS Fallon and other assigned ranges. The role requires advanced technical expertise in RF, digital and analog electronics, radar, and electromechanical systems to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain the system at full mission-capable status. This position also leads preventive and corrective maintenance activities, documents all actions in IEMS and site logs, and provides technical guidance to lower level technicians. Essential Responsibilities: Responsible for VERA-NG system operations and maintenance. Responsible for coordinating, setting up, and executing system operations in support of training operations in the NAS Fallon range space or other ranges as scheduled. Responsible for scheduling and conducting all preventive maintenance actions for the VERA-NG as outlined in technical publications provided by the vendor and identified as required during integration and operation. Responsible for overseeing and conducting all corrective maintenance actions for the VERA-NG to bring the system back to full mission capable status. Applies technical knowledge in complex troubleshooting, isolating malfunctions, repairing to the component level, and incorporating engineering changes. Work typically requires understanding of the interrelationships of analog, digital, mechanical, and RF operating systems, diagnostics, and circuits. Makes circuit analyses, calculates waveforms, and traces relationships in signal flow. Uses applicable test equipment, based on task at hand, to complete required maintenance. Provides technical guidance to lower-level technicians. Documents maintenance actions in Site log and Integrated Enterprise Management System (IEMS). Requirements Minimum Requirements: 3 years' experience involved in the following: Digital/analog signal processing; synchro-servo circuits; Radar and radar theory; Electromechanical devices; Video signal processing and recording; Communications (multiplexer equipment); Digital/analog computer systems; High voltage power supplies; Test equipment; Optical equipment; RF signal processing; Antenna systems; DC equipment; Low-voltage AC equipment; Auto-transfer (UPS) equipment; Power converters and inverters. Qualified as Electronic Warfare Technician III. Must possess and maintain CompTIA Security+ certification (required to be part of the Cyber Security Workforce). Possess a valid state Driver’s License. Must be a US citizen Must possess and maintain an active Secret clearance High School diploma or equivalent. Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands: Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines. Work is occasionally performed in a shop or other facility environment that is moderately lighted, heated and ventilated. Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; and risk of electrical shock. Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme temperatures, and vibration. Routine travel to remote site facilities may be involved. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May require work in high temperature, dusty or confined areas. May require wearing and/or use of protective equipment. Routinely lifts items weighing 15-25 pounds and occasionally in excess of 45 pounds.
