BIG PICTURE: We are seeking a Head of Vertical Drama Development to lead the creative vision and development pipeline for our new short-form, mobile-first serialized drama business. Reporting directly to the Head of Vertical Dramas, this executive will be responsible for shaping the slate of binge-worthy micro-dramas that fuel our expansion into this fast-growing category. You’ll generate original concepts, hire and manage writers, oversee story architecture, and ensure that every project aligns with the retention-driven needs of vertical-first platforms. If you’re an experienced vertical development exec with sharp instincts for serialized storytelling and a passion for shaping hit content at scale, this is your opportunity to help build a groundbreaking new business line. HOW YOU’LL SPEND YOUR TIME: Creative Leadership: Oversee the end-to-end development process for all vertical drama projects, from concept to script to production handoff. Slate Building: Originate and source ideas across genres with proven monetization potential, ensuring a pipeline of high-volume, cliffhanger-driven series. Story Development: Create loglines, beat sheets, series bibles, and episode outlines that drive bingeability and retention. Writer Management: Recruit, hire, and guide writers capable of producing at scale, balancing speed with creative quality. Workflow Optimization: Establish systems for rapid story iteration, enabling multiple projects to move quickly from greenlight to script. Audience Alignment: Apply Dhar Mann Studios’ storytelling DNA to new formats, ensuring emotional resonance and mission alignment. Data-Driven Storytelling: Partner with analytics teams to incorporate retention metrics, performance dashboards, and monetization data into creative development. Collaboration: Work closely with production teams to ensure developed scripts are optimized for vertical-first shooting, budget constraints, and platform needs. WHAT YOU HAVE: 5+ years of scripted development or creative producing experience in digital video, television, or streaming originals. Proven ability to develop serialized, cliffhanger-driven storytelling at scale. A network of writers and indie creators who can be rapidly engaged for fast-turn projects. Strong experience writing and/or overseeing beat sheets, treatments, and episodic outlines. Comfort with incorporating data and performance metrics into creative decision-making. Exceptional organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and writers simultaneously. A fast-moving, scrappy mentality with a passion for innovation in new storytelling formats. A love for emotionally resonant, character-first stories that engage and retain audiences WHO OVERSEES YOU: The Head of Vertical Drama Development will report directly to the Head of Vertical Dramas and collaborate closely with creative, production, and analytics teams. WHERE IT ALL GOES DOWN: All the action takes place at our studio in Burbank, CA. WHEN THE MAGIC HAPPENS: This is a full-time role requiring flexibility to meet fast-moving production timelines, including occasional evenings and weekends.
