JOB BRIEF

The Vertical Sales (VS) Representative is a strategic, overlay sales role responsible for driving new business growth across North, Central, and South America—primarily focused on North America. Unlike traditional Regional Sales Managers (RSMs), the VS does not operate within a geographic territory but instead focuses on vertical-specific prospecting and enterprise account development. This role works within a matrix structure and collaborates closely with the RSMs and other cross-functional stakeholders to identify, qualify, and close high-value sales opportunities, primarily in excess of $250K annually.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES:

  • Advanced skills in solution selling, prospecting, and relationship management.
  • Strong business acumen and vertical market knowledge.
  • CRM proficiency, especially with Salesforce.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with sales process tools and systems (e.g., QCBD, PLM, KissFlow).
  • Self-starter with a high level of initiative, energy, and motivation.
  • Excellent team collaborator with experience working in matrix organizations.
  • Adept at navigating internal politics and aligning cross-functional teams.
  • Skilled at developing C-level relationships and navigating complex buying groups.
  • Technically curious and capable of grasping technical product concepts.
  • Ability to adapt to a hybrid business model of both COTS products and integrated custom solutions.
  • Experience working with channel partners and ecosystems to extend reach.

Responsibilities

To drive strategic revenue growth in a designated vertical market through proactive prospecting, solution selling, and vertical-specific business development. The VS is expected to identify and secure new target accounts, promote Axiomtek’s hybrid offering of products and integration services, and lead strategic pursuits through the sales cycle with minimal day-to-day supervision.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Drive new vertical-specific sales with a focus on high-value target accounts (>$250K annually).
  • Identify and qualify new opportunities through a mix of self-sourced efforts (cold calling, networking, data mining, trade shows, etc.) and provided leads.
  • Collaborate closely with Regional Sales Managers to ensure strategic alignment and effective opportunity handoff.
  • Serve as the lead point of contact for target accounts, orchestrating internal technical and product resources as needed.
  • Transition accounts from products to solutions when appropriate to capture full value-added opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain deep knowledge of the assigned vertical industry, including customer pain points, solution needs, and emerging trends.
  • Support marketing in vertical-aligned initiatives including content development, trade shows, and campaign support.
  • Participate in sales planning, forecasting, and execution of go-to-market strategies.
  • Maintain high-quality opportunity data in Salesforce and follow the internal sales process with diligence and accuracy.
  • Provide feedback to Product Management regarding market demands and alignment of products/services.
  • Leverage corporate resources such as systems engineers, application engineers, and product managers at strategic points in the sales cycle.
  • Ensure adherence to the company’s Quality Management System.
