To be successful in this position, a current AMSA issued Master <24m along with a Marine Engine Driver Grade 3 is required. Previous experience working at or exposure to a pearl farm or knowledge of the pearling industry would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

We are excited to be partnering with Paspaley to operate an exclusive Pearl Farm Tour in Broome. This unique experience showcases the renowned Paspaley Pearl Farm located in Roebuck Bay, with the pearls themselves as the centre piece of the tour. Guests will enjoy a 4-hour experience, which includes a visit to the Paspaley Boutique in Broome before being returned to their hotels.
We are currently recruiting a Vessel Master to work alongside the Deckhand/Host in conducting the tour. This position is being offered on a seasonal basis from April to October 2025.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Comply with all aspects of the vessels safety management system and supporting documents, ensure that marine standards are followed, and the vessel is operated in a safe manner
  • Deliver welcome, departure and safety briefings to guests, as well as onboard commentary
  • Assist the guests with transferring on and off the vessel/sealegs in a timely and safe manner
  • Assist in the training of team members to meet the standards of Journey Beyond/Paspaley and develop, lead and support crew on a day-to-day basis
  • Maintain vessel records to the appropriate standard (logs, maintenance records etc using the maintenance management system Helm)
  • Follow the associated processes relating to refuelling of the vessel
