Role Highlights The Vessel Traffic Service Officer (VTSO) is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient movement of vessels within the port waters by monitoring marine traffic, maintaining situational awareness, and providing timely navigational information. This role also supports incident response and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to uphold safe port operations in line with required standards. The VTSO is also responsible for scheduling and coordinating port resources, communication, and continuous visual surveillance of all vessels. The VTSO is the acting liaison between Fremantle Port Authority with vessels, shipping agents, R.A.N and all other port stakeholders. The VTSO works within the VTS Centre which operates 24/7, all year round. What Makes You a Great Fit You will enjoy working in a collaborative environment that is fast paced, process driven with a high level of attention to detail. You will have a can do attitude and are a strong team player, with the ability to undertake shift work and roster coverage. You will be passionate individual, with a strong interest in vessel traffic services with relevant industry experience. Other qualifications you will possess: Relevant marine qualification and/or marine industry experience. Hold a GMDSS and/or Radio Operator’s Certificate of Proficiency. In lieu of the above qualifications and experience, the below will be suitable: Evidence in a VTSO role for a minimum period of 12 months. Ability to meet the pre-requisites for completing the VTSO Basic Operator Course V103/1. Commitment to complete the VTSO Basic Operator Course V103/1 (as soon as possible).
