Caledon Mountain Veterinary Hospital (CMVH) is a privately owned small animal and surgical referral practice located in Caledon Village, ON, (approximately 20 minutes north of Brampton). We have a great team who take a lot of pride in their work practicing progressive medicine through a combination of cutting edge technology along with gentle and respectful handling of our patients.
We are looking for a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our team who is friendly, loves multi-tasking, is easy-going and loves interacting with clients. Being a team player and being able to work independently are equally important. Being comfortable with animal handling and restraint as well as being familiar with a fear-free approach is necessary for this role.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and customer service oriented.
  • Previous veterinary clinic experience or completion of an animal care/veterinary assistant program is required
  • Excellent communication skills with a strong command of the English language both written and oral.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Have the physical strength and ability to lift up to 50lbs unassisted
  • Have the physical strength and ability to stand for an entire shift when needed.
  • Have the physical strength and ability to sit, crouch, bend, and kneel when needed

* GRADUATION FROM AN ANIMAL CARE / VETERINARY ASSISTANT PROGRAM OR HANDS ON EXPERIENCE IN A VETERINARY SETTING IS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION. APPLICANTS MUST BE ABLE TO LIFT 50LBS UNASSISTED. *

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week

Responsibilities
  • Greeting and engaging with clients and pets visiting the clinic
  • Various cleaning, stocking, and inventory duties throughout the hospital
  • Husbandry duties such as feeding and walking patients as well as and cleaning cages
  • Assisting in handling animals as instructed by the Veterinarians or Technicians so they may examine, provide treatment, take samples or administer treatments to a patient
  • Surgical instrumentation preparation and sterilization
  • Assisting with receiving orders by unpacking medical and food supplies
  • Assisting at the front desk with regular clerical duties such as POS transactions, booking appointments, and directing client questions to the appropriate team member.
