JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for animal care and welfare, along with the skills necessary to support veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care to our patients. This role requires a proactive individual who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and is committed to ensuring the health and safety of animals.

SKILLS

The successful candidate should possess the following skills:

  • Kennel experience or familiarity with animal husbandry practices.
  • Previous veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and critical care practices.
  • Proficiency in medication administration and aseptic techniques.
  • Experience with animal handling, including dog handling and equine experience is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while managing multiple tasks efficiently.

Pay: $17.20-$25.00 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring that all necessary equipment is prepared and available.
  • Provide excellent animal care, including feeding, bathing, and exercising animals as needed.
  • Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Perform animal restraint techniques to ensure safety during examinations and treatments.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the clinic, including kennels and treatment areas.
  • Record patient histories and observations accurately in veterinary software systems.
  • Assist with laboratory tasks such as taking samples for testing and performing basic diagnostic procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their animals’ health and care instructions.
  • Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments and managing client inquiries when needed.
