OVERVIEW

At Spall & Harvey Animal Hospital, we pride ourselves on providing the highest quality care for pets and supporting our team in a dynamic, compassionate environment. We are currently looking for a dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team and help us continue to provide exceptional care for our furry friends.
As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a key role in providing support to our veterinarians and technicians while ensuring the smooth operation of the clinic. You will be responsible for assisting with patient care, administrative duties, and ensuring our patients’ and clients’ needs are met with compassion and professionalism.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience as a veterinary assistant or in a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Passion for animal care and well-being.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
  • Ability to lift animals and equipment (up to 50 lbs).
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience handling animals in a clinical setting.
  • Certification or training in veterinary assisting is a plus.
  • Knowledge of common veterinary terminology and procedures.

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Weekends and evening shifts are required.

    Pay: $19.00-$20.00 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Assist Veterinarians and Technicians: Prepare patients for examination, perform routine diagnostic tests, and help during procedures.
  • Patient Care: Monitor and care for animals before, during, and after surgery or treatments.
  • Clinical Support: Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian, prepare vaccines, and help with sample collection.
  • Client Interaction: Provide education to pet owners about aftercare, treatments, and pet health tips.
  • Medical Records: Maintain accurate medical records and ensure proper documentation for each patient.
  • Cleaning & Sterilization: Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including disinfecting cages, surgical areas, and instruments.
  • Inventory Management: Keep track of supplies and medications, and help with inventory control.
  • Front Desk Assistance: Answer phones, schedule appointments, and greet clients as they enter the clinic.
